Choosing the Right Paper For Printing

Choosing paper might seem like an easy task. In fact, you may be the type of person who walks into a store and picks a rim simply because it is on sale o. Some buyers make a choice based on the number of sheets the rim contains.

While it makes sense to get the most from your money, you need to choose Super B paper that suits your project type.

What determines the type of paper to use?

The last thing you want is to present valuable information on paper that either lowers or exceeds its quality. This is why you need to consider the following factors before you press the button on your inkjet printer.

  • Project type - How you intend to use your printed projects should determine the type of paper to go for. For instance, if your project is used to market a luxurious hair salon, it makes sense to use papers that create a luxurious impression. In the same way, you should not use premium quality paper on projects that request financial assistance.
  • Design and finish - If you work with images and colored projects, the type of finish your colored Super B sheets give is an excellent determinant of your work. Use sheets that will not soak in ink and ruin your work. For images, consider glossy paper works while a matte finish for use on certificates, cards, etc.
  • Weight and thickness - Check that your paper is opaque enough not to show at the back. It can ruin your work especially when you want to print on both sides of it. On the other end, heavy paper is not a good option if you consider mailing it out.

Are there standard paper sizes I can use?

The availability of standard sizes makes printing an easy task. Designers can choose a pre-determined paper size and plan their work on a layout that fits into these exact measurements.

You can also work on your computer, set the size of your document and send it to the printer. The Super B paper, for instance, has a pre-determined sheet size of 13"x19".

There are many types of sheet sizes used internationally. Among them are:

  • ISO standard sizes
  • American paper sizes.
  • Poster and billboard sizes
  • North American paper sizes
