Get a 24-inch two-by-four to nail into both studs. Think of it as creating a bridge between them. Line up the mounting holes and use a pencil to mark the areas you will attach it to. It is advisable to use a level. Although most wall mounts have an approximately 15-degree tilt for compensation, you should try to hang them as level as possible.
